Job summary

The Newbury Community Older Adults Mental Health Team would like to warmly welcome an enthusiastic, caring and highly motivated Senior Clinician to join our Memory Clinic Service.

You will be based at Hillcroft House, West Berkshire Community Hospital which is situated between Newbury and Thatcham.

Flexible working and free car parking available.

The Newbury Community Older Adult Mental Health Service is a multi-disciplinary service comprised of the Community Mental Health Team, Home Treatment Team and the Memory Clinic Service. All teams and members work closely together to offer high standards of specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for older adults and people with cognitive impairment and/or dementia of any age in the community setting.

We would encourage applications from experienced clinicians who are passionate about working with Older Adults and that wish to develop further expertise/specialise in the area of Memory Assessment.

Working Hours Monday to Friday 9-5pm.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will undertake comprehensive assessments and reviews in a range of settings including the patient's home.
  • To identify and signpost to a range of health, social and voluntary agencies which may assist and improve the care of individuals and their families.
  • Attend weekly Memory Clinic supervision.
  • Take part in Service Development both within the Memory Clinic and the wider team.
  • Supervise and support junior members of staff and students
  • Work closely with our wider team and offer support to other areas of the service when capacity allows.
  • Working as a duty nurse on a Rota Basis.

Newbury Community Mental Health - Memory Clinic Service is open Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm.

On occasion you may be required to support the wider team that do offer some out of hours sessions.

    • RMN Qualification


    Desirable

    • RGN (i.e dual qualified)


    Continuous Professional Development

    • Mentorship or equivalent
    • Completion of Post graduate courses related to the Older Adult or Dementia patient group


    Previous Experience

    Essential

    • 2 years experience + working with Older People with Mental Health need or people with Dementia of any age.
    • Experience in Multidisciplinary working


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Essential

    • Ability to demonstrate effective team working and ability to work autonomously.
    • Advanced assessment and clinical reasoning skills.
    • Advanced interpersonal skills.
    • Basic Computer skills
