Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sepsis/AKI Lead Nurse at The Princess Alexandra Hospital whose role will be providing clinical leadership, education and training to improve the outcomes for patients with sepsis.
This is a key role to ensure we develop and embed clinical expertise in the care and management of patients with Sepsis and Acute Kidney Injury, whilst ensuring that the quality performance indicators and outcome improvements are met.
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, highly motivated nurse to provide clinical leadership, vision and direction to our clinical areas. You will deliver divisional and corporate Trust objectives and drive efficient and effective service delivery.
Main duties of the job
This is a key role to the delivery of performance improvement, facilitating the development, implementation and ongoing adherence of the sepsis programme protocols and therapies.
The role will support the Medical Director and patient safety team in ensuring there is a culture that prioritises sustained improvement and safety. The post holder will demonstrate quality improvement and will be responsible for ensuring data is collected, collated, monitored and presented in a timely manner and in line with National compliance.

- Registered Nurse or Midwife (part 1 or part 10 of the register)
- Evidence of continued professional studies related to area of speciality
- Teaching qualification such as practice assessor or mentorship
Desirable
- Educated to masters level or equivalent
- Professional Nurse Advocate
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- In-depth knowledge of sepsis and AKI National guidelines and best practice
- Evidence of presentation/teaching skills
- Experience of establishing effective working relationships at a high level across a range of external stakeholders
- In depth knowledge of the current AKI targets
- Experience of achieving solutions through negotiation and influencing multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
