An exciting secondment /fixed term opportunity has arisen for up to 2.0 WTE band 6 nurse/midwife/AHP to be part of a 12 month project supporting the placement expansion work to provide quality learning opportunities for student nurses .
You will work collaboratively with the existing Student Placement Team and the New AHP Student Placement Lead and New AHP Student Placement Support Officer who will be part of the new project team to deliver the project outcomes.
You will report to the Student Placement Leads responding to the clinical need contributing to the scoping/review and evaluation of student nurse placements and preparing and updating Practice Assessors and Practice Supervisors.
Main duties of the job
Develop capacity to provide quality learning experiences for student nurses and student AHP's to deliver effective, high quality, safe patient centered care.
Supporting Preparation where relevant and updating Practice Assessors/Practice Supervisors/Practice Educators within clinical teams and clinical areas to ensure that students and newly qualified staff are aware of their accountability in the context of supervision and assessments and are compliant with NMC and HCPC requirements.
Providing pastoral support and to undergraduate nursing, midwifery and AHP students within GWH and facilitating the student voice within the organization.

Work with the Student placement AHP and Student placement manager to scope and develop capacity across the organisation to provide a quality learning experiences for student nurses/midwifes and AHPs to deliver effective, high quality, safe patient centered care. Work collaboratively with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) and clinical staff to implement the NMC/ HCPC and HEI requirements in the recruitment and support student nurses/midwifes and student AHPs to be able to deliver effective, high quality, safe patient centred care. Facilitate the development of post-registered nurses/ graduate AHPs, AHP support workers and practitioners to supervise and fairly assess students (nursing/midwifery and AHP) within their clinical areas including apprentices e.g. Student nurses, and Registered Nurse Apprentices, AHP degree Apprentice and AHP support workers. Raise awareness of registered practitioners accountability in the context of supervision and assessment and ensuring compliancy with NMC/ HCPC requirements. Provide regular updates regarding placement expansion across the organisation. In collaboration with the B7 student placement leads and the HEI ensure the portfolio of placements within the trust is managed and facilitate the sharing of best practice through the developing networks for mentors/ practice educators/ supervisors/ practice assessors To liaise and work with other departments or disciplines which may be helpful to provide avenues of experience or expertise. Report and advise the Student Placement Manager of any areas of concern as identified by learners and managers. Review student experiences within the learning environment using audits/evaluations and development of student feedback mechanisms. Support the management of the Registered Nursing Apprentices/OU and Uof G placements and the AHP students to meet NMC / HCPC standards. Support Heads of AHP service to develop student placement capacity within the ahp, working with the clinical practice educators and HEI Work within and across departments to ensure consistency and high-quality support for apprentices and student nurses and their assessments. Supporting the AHP practice educators. Maximise pre and post registered nurses and AHP supervisors and assessors learning opportunities. Build a MDT network of practice educators across the organsiation, an opportunity to learn and share for clinical educators Support the roll out of BSW INPlace placement allocation tool Employ a variety of teaching strategies to facilitate learning such as working one to one in a supervisory capacity with learners, face-to-face training, planning and facilitation of workshops, simulation, coaching and collaborative learning in clinical practice. Ensure supervisory staff understand the standards, competencies and objectives they require to support apprentices/student nurses for their role, and direct them to appropriate resources. In conjunction with neighbouring organisations and GWH staff contribute to identifying and supporting suitable placements where necessary. To work in partnership with Clinical Service Leads within the clinical areas to investigate any concerns that may be raised by the learners regarding the placement or mentors/supervisors/assessors. Practise according to the NMC/ HCPC code and relevant professional guidelines across departments. Map the clinical educators and supervisors across the organisation, to include up to date training and development needs to inform annual workforce learning and development plans Together with the AHP student placement lead support the roll out of the AHP Support worker framework Support the development of the AHP preceptorship offer working with the GWH preceptorship lead and AHP education and development lead
