Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust wishes to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Luminal Gastroenterology focusing on Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Nutrition for a 12 month fixed term period with a possibility of extension to contract.

The person appointed will be based at Aintree University Hospital and will be a member of the Gastroenterology Directorate.

Applicants are required to be registered with the General Medical Council

Main duties of the job

The appointee, together with his or her colleagues will have a commitment to the provision of Gastroenterology. This will primarily focus on the delivering outpatient IBD care, contributing to the IBD MDT, and undertaking nutrition support in an outpatient setting.

If the candidate wishes to undertake related endoscopy or training, this can be supported. If the candidate wishes to undertake predominantly a position in nutrition support and HPN, this could be supported. In addition, other duties will include research, audit, administration and continuing medical education.

A job plan of the fixed sessions is below. Further discussions and changes to the job plan can be accommodated to individual candidate's requirements on mutual consent.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCP (or equivalent)
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council


Experience

Essential

  • Experience at gastroenterology and registrar level
  • Interested to learn and advance in Gastroenterology and Endoscopy


Desirable

  • Experience of IBD and Nutrition
  • Evidence of delivering training & education
  • Involvement in research
  • Publication of audit results


Knowledge

Essential

  • High standard
  • Good understanding of colonoscopic techniques and skills


Desirable

  • To have a good understanding of 'Good Medical Practice' from the GMC


Experience

  • Proven track record in significant audit
  • Publication of audit results
