West Hampshire CAMHS Early Help Service are looking for a Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to join our team as a band 7 Senior Primary Mental Health Worker to the 31st May 2024 to cover maternity leave. You will need to be registered with your governing body and have relevant experience.

You will be joining and helping lead a friendly, supportive and creative multi-disciplinary team, dedicated to providing a high-quality service to our young people.

Your base can be in Ashurst, Eastleigh or Andover with the opportunity for a blended approach to working.

The service is going through an exciting transformation, introducing a new model of stepped care within the service. The post holder will support the development and delivery of the stepped care pathway. The post holder will also work within the Single Point of Access, helping support the front door into CAMHS, referral, consultation and advice. The post holder will need to work in fast paced environment, but will be well supported to do so.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide supervision and leadership to other members of the Primary Mental Health workforce.
  • To be part of the Primary Mental Health Work leadership team and participate in the development of the service
  • To provide a community based primary mental health service for children and young people as part of the primary tier of CAMHS.
  • To work in the Single Point of Access.
  • To offer consultation and advice to primary care workers on all aspects of mental health and well being of children and their families.
  • To direct children and their families to the most appropriate service in order to meet their emotional needs.

Job responsibilities

Extensive experience of mental health, risk assessment, care planning and care management and collaborative working with young people and families is a key part of this role. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health challenges is essential.

You will be bringing a background of skills and expertise, to support the leadership of the Primary Mental Health Workforce.

Our service has an excellent track record, and a commitment to robust evidence based supervision and ongoing training. This is a service that is also focused on staff support and well-being. Training and development opportunities are available , including a New To Hampshire CAMHS induction programme, in house training and a commitment to ongoing CPD.

To provide a community based primary mental health service for children and young people as part of the primary tier of CAMHS.

To offer consultation and advice to primary care workers on all aspects of mental health and well being of children and their families.

To direct children and their families to the most appropriate service in order to meet their emotional needs.

To offer assessments individually and jointly with primary care colleagues.

To offer a variety of evidence based therapeutic group interventions at tier 1 and 2 to children, young people and their families and to hold a small case load.

To work in the Single Point of Access (SPA) providing triage, risk assessment and care planning

To be an active member of the Early Help Management Team

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health
  • Evidence of clinical training in a field relevant to the post eg brief psychotherapy, solution focused approaches, cognitive behaviour therapy, motivational interviewing, or systemic work.


Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Highly specialist knowledge of child and adolescent mental health
  • Significant level of experience of working with children and families, including work with child mental health needs
  • To be able to recognise in children and young people a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to safeguard and protect children and young people's welfare in line with the Children Act 2004 requirements
  • Demonstrate skills to assess risk using already established assessment tools
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills for systemic assessment of risk factors in the environment and skills to develop a range of strategies to address identified risk
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills for development of protocols with families and other staff / practitioners to manage risk
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills and attitude to promote safety for themselves and others
  • Experience of mental health assessment and implementation of arrange of evidence based therapeutic interventions.
