South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is working with Heartbeat Alliance and the PCNs in Hambleton & Richmondshire to provide a First Contact Physiotherapy Service for patients with musculoskeletal problems.
This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Senior Physiotherapists with a special interest in musculoskeletal conditions to work closely with GPs in GP Practices and also have close links with the Advanced Practice Physiotherapists (APPs) in the MSK Service . This role is suitable for physiotherapists with significant post graduate experience in the management of patients with musculoskeletal conditions.
Main duties of the job
The First Contact Practitioner (FCP ) will work as an autonomous practitioner using advanced assessment and clinical reasoning skills to assess and diagnose where possible. They will provide the patient with self-management advice including exercises and should on-going treatment be required they will refer the patient onto the most appropriate pathway of care. At this stage the physiotherapists in these roles will not be investigating, prescribing or injecting but will be working closely with the well established MSK Service.

After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

South Tees Hospitals is the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in a number of community hospitals.
The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a �35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.
The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.
