Barts Health NHS Trust are recruiting an experienced critical care nurse to join their dynamic team within the ICU unit of one of their committed, fast-paced and world-class hospitals in London, St Bartholomew's.

Main duties of the job

This is a fantastic chance for a registered ITU nurse to undertake a challenging role within one of Londons leading centres for healthcare. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe delivery of individualised care to the most high-risk patients, while working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Deliver regular updates to doctors, patients and their family members
  • Begin treatment and monitor doses
  • Respond to a medical emergency and alert the appropriate Doctors as needed
  • Care for patient needs throughout their recovery in the ICU unit
  • Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient
  • Maintain patient records
  • Create and implement effective care plans
  • Providing medical attention to patients in the intensive care unit of hospitals and healthcare facilities
  • Identifying sudden or subtle changes in a patients medical condition
  • Delivering regular updates to doctors, patients and their family members


  • Person Specification

    Additional Criteria

    Desirable

    • Robust clinical knowledge, strong initiative, and an ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Honesty and integrity, and a caring patient-centred approach


    Experience

    Essential

    • At least 6 months NHS experience in that last 3 years


    Qualifications

    Essential

    • NMC Registration & ITU qualified
    • 6 months post preceptorship experience
