We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic person to lead our Intrapartum services at South Tees Hospitals. The right candidate will have experience working within intrapartum services and be keen to drive intrapartum services in line with National and local agendas.

About us
We provide maternity services at both The James Cook University Hospital and the Friarage Hospital, supporting around 4,800 women a year who give birth with us. South Tees offers a range of maternity care services in hospital, in the local community and at the midwife-led unit at The Friarage.
The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialities from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad.
The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.

South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers. This programme aims to:-
After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.

Main duties of the job
- To efficiently lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring the provision of a safe, quality and progressive intrapartum midwifery service to women
- To provide visible, professional leadership support and direction for the intrapartum services
- To provide professional leadership within all intrapartum areas of Maternity Services
- To maintain a safe, quality working environment in which staff can maximise their potential and further develop their skills in clinical practice
- To assist the Head of Midwifery in Workforce Planning within the Maternity Services by leading programmes of improvement work related to safety, experience and quality.
- To ensure that safe, high quality clinical services are delivered in line with local, national policy and meeting individualised needs.
- To lead the multidisciplinary Labour Ward Forum in developing the Maternity service.
- To work in partnership with the Head of Midwifery, Deputy Head of Midwifery, General Manager and Clinical Lead to ensure that the defined group of services meets agreed targets within the resources available.
- To effectively manage the budget for the clinical areas of responsibility
- To be proactive, make recommendations, facilitate and contribute to the management of change within the maternity service as a whole.
- The matron will recognise the responsibility and accountability of their practice and develop the skills to be able to challenge the actions of others to promote person centred, safe practice in all areas.
