An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen to join a friendly multi-disciplinary team within Ty Llidiard, the regional inpatient CAMHS unit for South Wales, at a time of rapid development and change in the service. We are looking for an experienced social worker to enhance the skills mix in the therapies team and contribute to the continued expansion and improvement of our therapies service, to ensure that we deliver the best possible care and support to the young people on the ward and their families.

Ty Llidiard is a 15-bedded tier 4 inpatient CAMHS unit, providing healthcare services to young people and their families across South Wales, serving a population of around 450,000. It is ideally situated between Wales' vibrant capital city, Cardiff, to the East, and Porthcawl to the West, with its stunning beaches and proximity to the picturesque scenery of the Brecon Beacons.

Due to recent government investment, Ty Llidiard is in a period of expansion and improvement We have therefore been able to develop a number of new therapy posts. The multi-disciplinary therapy team now includes clinical psychology, child psychotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, art and music therapy. The current post will further expand and complement the therapies team.

Main duties of the job

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR 2 YEARS DUE TO FUNDING

If you are an internal applicant this post will only be offered on a secondment basis and you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.

Provision of specialist social services for young people and their families who have been referred to the tier 4 inpatient unit.

Working with individual service users, providing advice, assistance, assessment, counselling, personal therapy or other forms of personal assistance with the aim of enhancing or protecting individual welfare.

Complying with the statutory requirements of the relevant childcare, mental health or community care legislation, in line with the requirements of the local authority's policies and procedures.

Advise inpatient team about social services provision and provide liaison with local authority teams.

The post holder will be the lead specialist within their own field.

The post holder will work autonomously.

The post holder will have significant discretion to work within broad occupational policies, and interpret how these are implemented.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional qualification CQSW, DipSW or other HCPC recognised social work qualification.
  • Knowledge of child care legislation including Children, Community Care and Mental Health Act legislation


Desirable

  • Training in an additional therapeutic modality preferably to accreditation level


Experience

Essential

  • Substantial post-qualification experience to masters level Experience with children and families in a statutory setting. Experience of working in a mental health setting, and/or in patient hospital setting.
