Job summary

We are looking to recruit a full time Estates Technical Supervisor.

This post is essential to the running of the Estates Department at Frimley Health. In this role you will be required to facilitate the smooth running and the delivery of maintenance services across the hospital . As well as being part of the Estates managers on-call rota and ensuring that the Trust fulfils specific regulatory requirements.

The post holder is expected to have sound electrical and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to project manage not only jobs, but staff and maintaining and ordering stock as required.

This Post attracts additional payments for out of hours On-call duties increasing earning potential to approx �39K to �46K pa

Main duties of the job

  • Be able to calibrate advanced mechanical and electrical installations. Understand, interrogate and rectify faults on the Building management system.
  • Take part in an on-call system and stand in forleave and sick. Safe operation of plant, systems, steam, water treatment and electricity.
  • Assist with the supervision of all trade staff and contractors working for the estates department. Maintain the electronic allocation of reactive and planned maintenance works.
  • Ensure that all Health and safety legislation is followed at all times by both estates staff and contractors whilst working for the Trust. To ensure all compliance issues are met and relevant evidence is kept up to date.
  • Responsible for the ordering of materials and stock for the estates department using the EROS ordering system, at all times providing the Trust with best value for money. Ensuring that minimum stock levels are maintained taking into account Budget limits.

Job responsibilities

  • Act as lead for direction and guidance with regards to buildingservices for other team members within the department.
  • At all times carry Trusts communication devices, ensuring thatemergency communications are always monitored by either you oranother delegated person.
  • Carry out all duties in a safe and compliant way.
  • Maintains morale, timekeeping and discipline of the Estates directlabour and ensures a safe working environment.
  • Assist and advise the team in relation to planned preventative andstatutory (PPM, SPM) maintenance.
  • Maintain training records and formal registration.
  • Complete electronic reporting for work carried out in a timelymanor to assist with achieving KPIs.
  • To learn new techniques, with training as necessary to attendtraining courses as may be required.
  • To advise other department managers with regards to smallelectrical/ mechanical improvements, projects works and assist withbudget pricing for work under their supervision.
  • To liaise with department managers regarding shutdowns andinterruptions to services for work to be carried out by direct labouror contractors.
  • Participate in the estates on call system, stand in for sickness.
  • Be available to work outside normal working hours.
  • To ensure an effective and responsive approach to customer care.
  • Carry out condition reports and report back with written report onplant and equipment to enable management to forecast backlogspend.
  • Understanding of HTMs, 01 Decontamination, 02 Medical Gases,Heating and Ventilation, 04 Water systems and 06 Electricalservices.
  • To be actively involved in the training and development of staffincluding apprentices.
  • Participate in the Trusts appraisal system and work within the Trustscore values.
  • Cross site working (mobile) in-between Frimley Health owned andmanaged sites.
  • Act as an Authorised person.
  • Take a lead role in maintaining the Trust BMS system.
  • Carry out any other duties requested by the supervisor to assist thedepartment in maintaining a service to the trust.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Good general education
  • Recognised trade apprenticeship or level 2 city guilds craft certificates or NVQ equivalent electrical installation/maintenance
  • 18th Ed IEE wiring Regs


Desirable

  • HNC Mech/Elec Eng
  • Level 3 City & Guilds Craft or NVQ equivalents electrical installation/maintenance
  • C&G 2391


Experience

Essential

  • Good organisational skills and ability to address and develop solutions to problems.
  • Good communication skills for effective working relationships throughout the organisation.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team.
  • Organised approach to work.
  • Basic IT skills for material ordering.
  • Evidence of good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Able to follow written instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to train other members of the estates team.
  • High standard of workmanship and high quality completion on all work undertaken.
  • Experience in an engineering service


Desirable

  • Service within the field of maintenance, focus on service supply, problem solving keeping the client informed.
  • Trend BMS experience fault finding and operating
  • Knowledge of HTMs
