Neuro and Oncology Team

0.5 WTE/ 18.75 hours per week

We have a fantastic opportunity for you if you are looking to broaden your existing clinical knowledge within Neurology and Oncology. Relevant NHS experience including basic rotations within medicine, neurology and musculoskeletal is essential.

We pride ourselves in supporting staff with good team and department structures and morale. We run specialist clinical training, and non-clinical training. We have students on placement in specialties across the department. We also have superb working relationships with our Consultants and Multidisciplinary Teams across both inpatients and outpatients.

Main duties of the job

The team provides a 7 day service across inpatient Stroke, Neurology and Oncology. This post is a part time, substantive contract to cover 18.75 hours per week.

You will spend your time based mainly on the Stroke / Neurology ward, but may also see neurology or neuro-oncology outpatients, and cover the oncology ward to support the team. Therefore skills to assess and treat a broad caseload will be essential.

Our clinical staff are involved in Trust level clinical and non-clinical projects and have opportunities to drive service development, audit and evidence based practice.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To provide physiotherapy to relevant patients within clinical specialty area, in a range of settings including inpatients, outpatients and patient homes.

To assess and treat patients in relevant rotational area . To support the team in the organisation and provision of an efficient, high quality and co-ordinated physiotherapy service for patients in each area . To undertake a defined clinical caseload. To ensure that patient and service standards and priorities are met. To provide clinical supervision to assigned junior physiotherapists, technical instructors, physiotherapy assistants and students.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Previous Acute NHS experience at Band 5 level
  • Achieved core skills in all core Junior rotations, including specialty area/s
  • Evidence to support knowledge base in specialist area


Desirable

  • Previous Senior Experience in Specialty Area


Qualifications

  • HCPC registration
  • BSc Physiotherapy


Desirable

  • Member of CSP
  • Member of Specific interest group
  • Post graduate qualifications in Neurology or Neurological Treatments
