We are looking for an experienced facilities services professional to join us as Associate Director of Estates and Facilities - Facilities Services in this new role within Capital, Estates & Facilities Management at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Being a key member of the Capital, Estates & Facilities Management senior leadership team, you will be a role model for all service staff and lead the Facilities Services Division which covers a wider range of patient-facing services such as domestic cleaning, patient catering and food service, logistics and portering, security services, linen, access and car parking.

We welcome applications from candidates from a diverse career background and acute healthcare experience is not essential. You will have significant experience in service delivery, preferably in soft FM services, but need to be interested in providing world class services to patients and staff through the range of services that are within this portfolio.

Main duties of the job

You will have experience in service improvement, contract management and delivering through people. Our Facilities Services are delivered through a range of delivery models, including both outsourced and in-house services.

You will have exceptional negotiating and engagement skills working collaboratively with both clinical and non-clinical staff, and you will be a focal point for technical service aspects as these relate to the hiportfolio. You will be experienced in serviced transformation and proactive in identifying, scoping and delivering service improvements.

As a key strategic role, our new Associate Director for Facilities Services will lead the 24/7 service provision lead a team of dedicated individuals and will deputise for the Director of Capital, Estates & Facilities Services when required and provide cross-cover for other senior staff, working collaboratively across the portfolio of director of capital, estates and facilities management.

Please note: This role requires on-site working a minimum of 4 days a week.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Master's Degree or equivalent relevant service and leadership experience. Evidence of Continuous Professional development.


Desirable

  • MBA in Facilities Management. Recognised management qualification.


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in service management. Managing strategic and operational change - Including the impact systems, processes, resources, services & staff and developing new ways of working. Reporting to and working at sub-Board / Committee level. Proven project and line management experience. Effective communication, presentational and reporting skills. Positively managing staff including performance and personal development. Revenue Budget management. Ability to analyse and interpret complex information. Experience of service improvement and transformation relating to facilities services. Experience of specifying, procuring and mobilising facilities service contracts.


Desirable

  • Knowledge and understanding of clinical services.

  • Management of teams and negotiating knowledge. Ability to work in a project management environment. Financial management and analytical abilities. Business case and/or report writing which contributes to presentations to Board level. Pay attention to detail. Ability to create strategies and translating vision into reality.
