Job summary
Join a newly formed PMO team developing our project management practice and supporting key service transformation projects across the Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic programme/project manager who is passionate about making a difference and using their skills to support clinical and managerial colleagues at all levels across the Trust. You will join our newly appointed Associate Director Trustwide PMO to help change our practice and deliver real benefits for the people we serve.

Main duties of the job
This post will be part of the Trustwide Project Management Office (PMO) team. The role of the PMO is to support the effective delivery of our strategy through the provision of expert, professional programme / project management practice, assurance and support.
You will work closely with the Associate Director Trustwide PMO to help champion the development of a professional, sound, programme/project management discipline to underpin our delivery of change and planning processes, and ensure consistency in our approach across the Trust.
As Trustwide PMO Programme/Project Manager you will work directly with the Corporate and Divisional teams across the Trust to support the delivery of our priority change plans. Your involvement will range from concept through to mobilization, for programmes and projects of varying size and strategic importance, demanding excellent communication, leadership and influencing skills. This may involve working on two or more complex projects or across a number of smaller projects.
This role requires a creative, forward thinking and innovative individual with solid programme/project management skill and experience of working across professional and organisational boundaries to deliver sustainable improvement.

Job responsibilities
Contribute to the professional operation of the Project Management Office (PMO), promoting and maintaining the highest standards and continuously improving the quality of project/ programme management across the Trust from initiation through to benefits realization
Support our operational and strategic planning processes to deliver Our Strategy successfully; through a coherent, professional portfolio, programme and project management approach, providing assurance on the overall integrity and coherence of the Trustwide portfolio; working effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation
Support the continued improvement of key processes to enable the successful delivery and benefits realisation across our key strategic change programmes and projects, working collaboratively with colleagues in other divisions to ensure alignment and remove potential for duplication and inefficiency
Ensure sound governance and reporting arrangements are maintained for all key portfolio programmes/projects; defining and establishing the standard for documentation, from start to finish, providing these tools and, where necessary, supporting teams to populate them; including advising and supporting project start up for projects not directly project managed by the PMO
Provide assurance on the effectiveness and efficiency of our programmes and projects, through the maintenance of an effective healthcheck process
Ensure an effective system for capturing and sharing learning from what has worked well and what has got in the way of successful delivery to inform future practice across the Trust
Provide a clear and visible overview/critique of organisational activity in relation to portfolio/programmes/projects, providing assurance and support to the safe and timely delivery of key projects e.g testing for synergies and hotspots to smooth demands on resources and capacity to deliver
Provide advice, challenge and practical help to teams to define and plot clear plans which will deliver the change, and outcomes/benefits, they need building competence and capacity across our organisation
Lead the active programme/project management of key projects to deliver Our Strategy and plan, holding all workstream leads to account for delivery outcomes against agreed milestones as needed
Support the Associate Director Trustwide PMO in the oversight of the delivery of our key strategic change and improvement programmes; currently provided through the Strategic Change Programme Board (SCPB) including the provision of reports, agenda setting, presentations and minute-taking for this forum
Support the Associate Director Trustwide PMO in the establishment, development and maintentance of an up to date suite of programmes and project management systems and processes and associated tools, making these easily available to colleagues to support the development and application of core skills across the organisation
Provide expert programme/project management advice and assurance function for professional programme/project management practice across our Trust
Contribute to the creation and promotion of a focal point for those engaged in delivering projects and making change happen, across the Trust e.g. create a mutual support network for project managers to share learning and ideas, seek support and help, and affiliation for those in roles engaged in similar work to help retain and redirect skills as individual projects come to an end
Work with the Business Development, Innovation, Reseach & Development, Quality Improvement and other teams engaged in transformation and change to help drive and mobilise innovations and improvements across the organisation in line with Our Strategy
Work with Risk team to clearly articulate risks that have been identified within the project(s) and ensure they are recorded on our risk register appropriately
Work collaboratively across the Trust, managing your own workload and supporting others to ensure that the PMOs activities and their change programmes are successful
Collate and analyse data, prepare and present reports on topics to the relevant forum when required
Attend appropriate committees and working groups as and when required,
Work in partnership with key stakeholders and other agencies
Use experience and skills to understand highly complex situations and information, identify issues, gather, collate and sift information
Deputise for the Associate Director Trustwide PMO as required

Qualifications
Essential
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent relevant senior management experience
- Evidence of recent and relevant continuing professional development
- Formal training in programme and project management e.g. Prince 2/MSP, Agile or equivalent
Desirable
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience delivering successfully implemented progammes and projects within a well recognized programme/project management methodology e.g., Prince 2, MSP, Agile, APMP or equivalent evidence of relevant professional experience
- Experience of delivering projects across organisational boundaries
- Experience of working with a number of digital packages to support effective communication and presentation of ideas and reports, and the development of effective tools to support practice and new ways of working
