Ward 3 is an established acute medical ward situated in The Northumbria hospital within the Medicine and Emergency Care Business Unit

The Unit consists of 30 in-patient beds. It will provide evidence based multi-disciplinary care with immediate and specialist management for the acute medical patient. This includes rapid diagnostic facilities, treatment and a multi-disciplinary approach including provision of comprehensive medical assessment.

Most patients are admitted through the Emergency Department the aim of of the Unit is to help patients on their journey to recover to the point that they can either be transferred for ongoing care, return to their own home or to further care in the community.

Experience in Acute medicine is desirable but not necessary as full training and support will be given to the successful candidate. • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the Ward Manager.
• To be responsible for the organising and co-ordination of nursing services in the ward/department in the absence of senior staff on a regular basis.

• Mentorship qualification or relevant qualification (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18 month period)
