We are looking for qualified Health Visitors to be part a dynamic, committed and integrated team of highly trained, early help professionals. As a Health Visitor in East Sussex you will be working in the 0 - 19 integrated Early Help Service which puts health visiting at the very heart of support for families with children from conception to 5 years. We believe the best way to support children and families is via an integrated approach our teams are collocated with a range of staff, including, Community Nursery Nurses, Staff Nurses, Early Communication Support Workers, Early Years Practitioners, Volunteer Coordinators, Keyworkers and Youth Workers.

Main duties of the job

Work as part of the skill mix team of Staff Nurses, Community Nursery Nurses and a range of Specialist Health Practitioners to deliver the Healthy Child Programme to improve outcomes for children and families.

Contribute to the Public Health Agenda, meet Public Health targets, reduce health inequalities and act as a professional role model at all times.

You will be an excellent communicator with the skill to address sensitive issues with families in a clear and supportive way. Job responsibilities

As a Health Visitor working in the Integrated Early Help Service, we can offer you:
  • A market supplement for all qualified nurses working in health visiting teams at Band 6 and above. The market supplement will be provided via a monthly payment, equivalent to 10% of your salary for a period of 1 year from Sep 2022 -Aug 2023 with opportunity for review..
  • The opportunity to work closely with specialist services, keyworkers and other partners supporting your families signposting and referring to services based on the unique needs of the families you work with, such as Toddler Talk, parenting courses, baby groups, volunteering, life skills. You will be able to continue to develop your knowledge of safeguarding children, recognising concerns and how to escalate them appropriately, providing preventative and educative support for families.
  • You will be working as part of an integrated NHS-County Council team with access to good quality resources and training, development opportunities via delivery of clinical supervision and champion roles and involvement in service development and quality improvement via working groups and audit.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC registration 1st Level registration
  • HV qualification - Educated to degree level supplemented by diploma level specialist training or relevant equivalent training and experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Child protection qualification


Desirable

  • ENB 997/998, Learning through Mentorship module, or commitment to undertake within one year of joining the Trust
  • Nurse prescriber or commitment to undertake training within 2 years of joining the Trust


Experience

Essential

  • HV practice covering all aspects of health visiting, including teaching
  • Demonstrates ability to deliver appropriate HV service and lead innovative practice
  • Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
  • Experience of delivery of innovative practice


Desirable

  • Community experience

Essential

  • Need to be physically fit in terms of mobility manual handling and practical elements of the job
  • Ability to demonstrate effective problem solving approach
  • The ability to work with changing scenarios and the ability to prioritise work appropriately
  • Must be mobile for regular travel across a geographical area
  • Ability to participate in health promotional sessional work outside of core hours
  • Reliable work record
