Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced Children's Nurse to join our existing diabetes nursing team.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in diabetic services and be able to demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal development & a willingness to develop new skills.

Where possible, shortlisted candidates will be expected to visit the department to meet the team. This post will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance.

If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have a enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 months.

As this vacancy is within the division of Womens and Childrens, there is a mandatory requirement for successful applicants to join the DBS update service. The cost of joining the update service is �13 per year, and applicants are liable to cover this cost with no reimbursement from the Trust. Further details of how to join the update service will be provided upon appointment.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential

  • Registered as First Level Nurse RN Child branch: Part 1 of NMC
  • Diabetes Nursing Qualification
  • Community Nursing Qualification
  • Educated to Degree Level
  • Willing to undertake further study as required by the post


Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Experience of working with and managing children with diabetes
  • Significant post registration experience
  • Portfolio of evidence of learning/development
  • Awareness of the Paediatric Best Practice Tariff and its implications for care provision


Desirable

  • Experience of working in a diabetes related environment
  • Experience of working in the community
  • Good knowledge of clinical information systems
  • Willing to undertake further training as required
  • Knowledge of Audit and research in diabetes
