Job summary

If you are someone who is great with customers either on the phone or face to face, have high levels of compassion and care about the people you come into contact with and able to work well under pressure then we want to hear from you.

As a Controller you will be providing a vital service as a liaison between our ambulance control centre, our operational staff, patients and Health Care Professionals. You will be responsible for co-ordinating and allocating Patient and Logistics journeys throughout the night requiring a keen eye for detail as well as a proactive and forward thinking approach.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a knowledgeable team and we are looking for a motivated, logical thinking, caring, innovative and enthusiastic person to join us.

The hours for this are 1900 to 0700 on a 4 days on 4 days off basis; however the Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust PTS control room offers our patients a service 24 hours a day, therefore the hours worked may vary dependent on service need.

Please note that the service is due to relocate to a new site in Morden therefore the base for this position will change.

Non-Emergency Patient Transport is a service made available for those who meet the eligibility criteria set by the Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust and transport commissioners. We provide a professional transport service to our service users living in and around Epsom, Carshalton and Surrey Downs outreaching as far as Croydon, West Byfleet, Crawley and Farnham. We also provide an effective and efficient Transport and Logistics service incorporating multiple aspects of Non-Patient Transport.

The post holder will work in a Control room providing planning and control services for non-emergency transfer of patients, ensuring coordinated delivery of Patient Transport Services takes place as per contractual agreements as well as liaising closely with external contacts which may include members of the public and /or Clinical departments at hospitals, GP surgeries, clinics day centres, nursing homes.The post holder will also be required to co-ordinate logistics transfers out of hours.
