Job summary
We are delighted to share the latest exciting opportunity to come and join our Corporate Nursing team with a vacancy for a Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service Manager role now open for applications. This role will provide comprehensive, high quality person centred support to individuals affected by cancer who contact the Macmillan Information and Support Service. The Macmillan Information and Support Manager will work closely with the Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse and the Macmillan Personalised Care and Support project facilitator to facilitate local delivery of Personalised Care and Support across all Directorates in The Rotherham Foundation Trust.
Specifically the role will work with the multidisciplinary clinical teams as well as linking in with various partner organisations across the SYB footprint by providing a comprehensive information service and being responsible for launching and maintaining the Rotherham Cancer Information APP and be pivotal in designing Health and Wellbeing offer to support people affected by cancer.
This post requires a well organised health or social care professional with experience in cancer care, information and support and quality improvement initiatives with experience of day to day running of a service including the support of Cancer Support Workers and volunteers who work alongside the service.
Main duties of the job
To lead in the development of the Macmillan Cancer Information and Support service
To support the creation of Health and Wellbeing events.
Identify priority areas relating to providing information and support for people affected by cancer
Support new ways of working ensuring the development within the Trusts IT systems reflects the needs of the Personalised Cancer care agenda
Work with the Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse, Macmillan Personalised Care and Support Project Support, Specialist Nurses, Cancer Support Workers and the Clinical Teams.
Develop and be accountable for a cancer patient lived experience group
Regular networking and working with internal and external stakeholders.
Handle sensitive queries from service users, colleagues and outside agencies in an effective and sensitive manner
Collect service user statistics, maintain accurate records on the data collection database and produce reports as required. Responsible for providing quarterly figures to Macmillan Cancer Support and an annual report
Recruiting, train and supervise the centre volunteer team
Ensuring stock and materials for the centre are up to date and to ensure information displays throughout the hospital have appropriate information resources
Presentation of project updates, written reports and data collection.
To ensure direct prompt and appropriate referral to medical teams, Clinical Nurse Specialists, AHPs, GPs Community Nursing teams and other agencies as appropriate.
