We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Team Lead Occupational Therapist to lead the rehabilitation team based on our 15 bedded, Level 2 Rehabilitation Unit at Broadgreen Hospital.

The Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides this rehabilitation unit as part of a hub and spoke arrangement for Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network (CMRN). This is a unique collaborative pathway with 7 partners that provides complex rehabilitation to patients following traumatic injury or illness and is based on need not diagnosis. The pathway goes from hyperacute to community.

The unit, (Ward 5 - Phoenix Unit) on the Broadgreen site, provides active rehabilitation for patients with complex functional loss, such as those with ABI, polytrauma, and post-critical care patients.

The well-established team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitian, speech and language therapist, psychology, nursing and medical staff with assistants and support staff. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to effective multidisciplinary team working, skill sharing and working with multiple external agencies/services.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to be part of the Cheshire and Merseyside Rehabilitation Network development groups and to contribute to the continued improvement of the pathway. This static position will give the staff member opportunities to fully participate in the education, training, audits, research and service development projects undertaken by the CMRN.

The post holder will have excellent communication and leadership skills in conjunction with experience and skills in complex rehabilitation (including neurological and trauma). The teams are led by highly skilled senior clinicians and are supported by Therapy Managers, all of whom are committed to the development of staff and services. There will be training opportunities and regular performance and development reviews. The post holder will provide training and supervision to Band 5 and 6 Occupational Therapists, assistants and students.

We are looking for someone who is committed to proactive team-working with other professionals and agencies, and who recognises the importance of demonstrating outcomes and meeting performance targets as part of excellent clinical care. We provide flexible patient and carer centred services, and there is therefore a requirement to work contracted hours over a 7 day rota and extended days when required.
