Job summary

This is an opportunity for you to be part of a dynamic and fast-paced employee relations team. You will be looking after a variety of employee relations activities for a workforce of 14,000 plus. In this role you will be fully involved in supporting managers with absence meetings, disciplinaries and other employee relations matters.

Our team of 10 provides full service employee relations service and are expected to have a wide range of up-to-date knowledge of employee relations.

Job responsibilities

WHAT YOULL DO

It will be a fast-paced role within an already fast paced team and you will have your own case load as well as support one of the Trusts divisions. This will mean;
  • Attending on-site meetings (This will be at Southampton General Hospital, Lymington Hospital and various other sites within a 20 mile radius of Southampton)
  • Provide quality, timely HR advice to your division and THQ managers across a range of HR issues
  • Advise, coach and train managers in using effective people management practices
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
You will need to be part CIPD qualified or equivalent, this is an excellent opportunity for someone who is willing to gain their full CIPD qualification.
  • We need someone who is able to travel between the various sites
  • Excellent communication skills will be crucial to the role
  • A wide knowledge of Employee Relations within a complex organisation and experience with a variety of ER issues which can be demonstrated at interview stage
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The core hours of availability for the employee relations team is 08:00-18:00, there are different shifts to ensure there is cover for these hours so you will need to be flexible.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree Level education or able to demonstrate comparable levels of knowledge.
  • Undertaking full CIPD qualification at minimum level 5 or equivalent or prepared to.
  • Evidence of CPD


Desirable

  • Part CIPD qualified or studying CIPD


Experience

Essential

  • Relevant generalist HR experience at operational level in a complex organisation, preferably NHS / public sector/large private sector
  • Experience in delivering training sessions
  • Able to demonstrate competence in providing HR advice.
  • Experience of dealing with the range of operational HR issues


Desirable

  • Supervisory experience


Aptitudes and skills

Essential

  • Able to communicate clearly at all levels of the organisation both verbally and in writing
  • Able to influence and persuade effectively
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to plan time to prioritise and manage a diverse caseload
  • IT skills - competent use of Microsoft Office
  • Able to create and manipulate reports using Excel
  • Progressive/innovative approach to HRM and the contribution of HRM to NHS service delivery
  • Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to take ownership of projects
  • Report writing skills
  • Displays effective and adaptable interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Ability to form positive relationships at all levels
