Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Capital, Estates & Facilities Department at Cardiff & Vale University Health Board as a M&E Manager (Mechanical).

The Estates Department currently have a position to work alongside and support the Estates Operational Teams in the Day to Day Operational Maintenance of the UHB Estate.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic construction engineering individual to support the continual service provision of one of the largest Health Boards in Wales.

The department is going through an exciting time of Service Improvement to increase the support and enhance the patient experience ensuring the department is fit for the future.

We are looking to recruit someone who will ensure that we will excel in providing a safe, organised and highly efficient service, a person who can be innovative in their thinking and have the ability to make decisions for themselves, someone who can develop and support the service improvements of the department ensuring we are fit for the future.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for managing staff and monitoring of day-to-day maintenance activities, repairs and modifications to engineering services and plant. Manage the planned and reactive works ensuring work is conducted to a high quality, within cost/time constraints, and safely. Provides technical advice, prepares written reports and undertakes Authorised Person duties. Manages third party contracts, and implements backlog maintenance and capital schemes

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

To have a proactive approach to managing the estates and operational services in the areas assigned to you.

Work within team supporting and covering others to meet KPI targets and the needs of the service.

Understand the interrelationship between all trades and team members.

Actively participate in all continuous improvement programs.

Actively participate in the operation of works information management systems by working within schemes and using modern technology such as time and attendance, PDAs, tablets, mobiles etc.

Comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant policies and procedures - issued by the Estates Department.

To work in accordance with the requirements of Building Regulations and all relevant HTMs (Health Technical Memorandums) and HBNs (Health Building Notes) for the UHB.

To comply with all UHB policies, procedures and practices and to be responsible for keeping up to date with any changes.
