Job summary
We are looking for an Assistant Service Manager to join our friendly Surgery team on a full time basis.
You will support the Service Unit Manager in the operational delivery and performance management to ensure key access standards are met, maintained and sustained. This will also include the cost effective planning, development, implementation and management of services within the Surgery
The Assistant Service Manager will be responsible for operational and planning issues and will work closely with the Service Unit Manager, General Manager, Divisional Director, Deputy Director of Operations, Deputy Director of Nursing, Lead Clinicians and Matrons to identify and implement solutions.
You will be expected to work independently to manage their own workload in line with service requirements and local/national policies.
You will be expected to deputise for the Service Unit Manager where required and appropriate.

Main duties of the job
You will work closely with the Service Unit Manager, the Matrons and the Divisional Triumvirate to co-ordinate service delivery and business development and will provide and support he primary management for the service.
You will liaise with the medical staffing co-ordinators to ensure the rotas enable continuity of service; allowing the Division to maintain its activity levels, and ensure that the associated income flows to the directorate and also maintain a quality safe service for the patients within the Trust.
You will act as business development support with regard to specific projects or initiatives within the speciality that support delivery of financial and/or operational standards.
