  • THE TRUST:

  • This is an exciting time to join Tameside Hospital following our latest CQC inspection. The report from the CQC commended the Trust for the considerable progress and significant change made since the last inspection. Rated as Good for Well Led and Caring we aim to build on changes that have taken place and continue along our improvement journey. We recognise that our staff are key to helping us achieve these changes. Have you got what it takes to help us on our journey?

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation provides hospital services for children and adults across Tameside and Glossop. The Trust is situated at the foot of the Pennines, eight miles to the east of Manchester and serves a population of approximately 250,000. The population is concentrated in the largely industrialised areas of the eight townships of Tameside, which comprise Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council. However, included within our catchment area is Glossop, part of Derbyshire High Peak District Council, with its population of approximately 28,000 which provides the challenges of a more rural community.

Employing approximately 2,500 staff, the hospital provides the wide array of services one would associate with a general hospital. These services include general and specialist medicine, general Surgery, Trauma and Orthopaedics, and full Consultant led obstetric and paediatric hospital services for women, children and babies.

Our values are at the heart of everything we do and come from our Everyone Matters promise. Every day they drive the behaviour and actions for every person in our organisation.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and promote safeguarding by implementing the Trusts policies and procedures, acting promptly on concerns, communicating effectively and sharing information appropriately

There are 447 acute beds on the hospital site, including 52 beds on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). The Trust opened a PFI project in November 2010 which encompasses bespoke clinical facilities for all the hospital in and out-patient services. The state of the art build encompasses a Paediatric Unit with a dedicated outpatient unit and a new surgical unit of 48 beds.
