Job summary

The General and Vascular Surgery Directorate is looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and conscientious team player to join the service as an Admininstration Manager for Vascular Surgery.

The Vascular Surgery is based across three sites (St Mary's Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital) and is composed of multi-disciplinary teams who deliver 18,500 outpatient appointments, 960 daycases, 370 elective admissions and 720 non-elective admissions annually. The Vascular service provides treatment of conditions affecting arteries and veins throughout the body. We are also the only centre in London and the South of England to provide open thoracoabdominal aneurysm repair using techniques such as left heart bypass and full motor and sensory spinal monitoring.

Main duties of the job

  • To co-ordinate operating surgeon cover and maximise the utilisation of Vascular theatre lists at St Mary's and daycase procedures at Charing Cross Hospital.
  • To develop the process to ensure that patients are booked in line with clinical priority and national access targets including RTT.
  • Weekly attendances at Vascular performance meetings and Theatre Planning Meetings
  • To ensure quality and customer care standards are met consistently as well as responding to patient concerns and complaints.
  • Providing support and leadership to the administration staff ensuring HR policies are followed.
  • Participation in service improvement and development

EDUCATION

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Good general education inc. English and Maths GCSE A-C or equivalent
  • Evidence of continuing education and professional development


Desirable

  • Higher national diploma/degree in business (or equivalent) or equivalent experience


SKILLS/ABILITIES

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Proven staff management and supervisory skills
  • Information Technology skills including Microsoft, Excel, Word, PowerPoint

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Previous NHS/Healthcare experience
  • Experience of working and dealing with the public
  • Experience of managing a team and a broad range of administrative staff in an NHS Setting
  • Experience of working across professional boundaries
  • Knowledge of national/NHS guidance regarding patient access and RTT waiting times targets


Desirable

  • Experience of working in a Surgical Service
  • Knowledge and experience of using Trust IT systems
  • Project Management skills
