Job summary
We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Continence Nurse to work within the London Borough of Merton Community Adult Health Service.So, what do you need to join our team?
To be a Registered General Nurse.Experience of undertaking comprehensive health needs assessments and writing care plans.
To work as a member of the community nursing team, under the direction of the clinical lead for adult continence, in conjunction with the clinical nurse manager, providing effective holistic nursing care to patients in community settings.
To Provide a Nurse Specialist Continence Promotion Service under the leadership of the Continence service Lead Merton
Main duties of the job
The community continence nursing service provides nursing care 5 days per week.To promote continence and provide specialist assessment and diagnostic intervention enabling treatment and management packages of care for patients with bladder and bowel dysfunction.To maintain core clinical skills in order to support community nursing with its care delivery.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.To be a car owner and driver.

Job responsibilities
- To assess, treat and review clients with bladder and or bowel dysfunction according to NICE Guidelines relating to bladder and bowel dysfunction
- To perform investigations including ultrasound bladder scanning, urine testing, uroflowmetry, Digital Rectal Examination and pelvic floor muscle assessment demonstrating and maintaining competence at a specialist level
- To manage a caseload of clients who require specialist continence nursing care
- To organise nurse-led clinics to reflect local needs
- To refer clients on to other specialist clinicians for further investigations and/or treatment as appropriate
- To work in collaboration with GPs and other clinicians in planning and delivering care

- RGN / RN with current registration
- Evidence of recent and continuing post-registration professional education and training equivalent to post-graduate diploma level
- Minimum 2 years post basic training

- Experience of developing/training other colleagues
- Experience of supervising the practice of junior colleagues
