The communications team is responsible for internal and external communications including supporting our services to raise awareness of what they do and the support they offer.

Our Mental Health Support Teams provide early intervention mental health support for children and young people aged 5-18 within schools and colleges.

This role will create and deliver service marketing and communications plans for campaigns and projects for both internal and external audiences. This is a busy role where you will be expected to have a hands-on approach. You will need to be able manage multiple priorities and work well independently.

The right person for this role will be a confident communicator with excellent writing skills who can manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Your excellent interpersonal skills will help you develop good relationships with internal and external stakeholders help you to influence others effectively to meet objectives.

This is a fixed term role in a supportive and creative team who will help you develop your skills in an NHS environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Work with the Head of Marketing & Communications and the Service Manager to develop service communications plan including measures for success.
  • Work closely with service lead and teams to commission, develop and edit content for communications channels including the website, social media and newsletters.
  • Develop, deliver and evaluate communications projects
  • Interview Trust and school staff and young people, and develop case studies, news stories and social media content.
  • Plan, schedule and deliver content and campaigns for service social media accounts, ensuring regular content and consistent messaging.
  • Work alongside co-production and engagement champions to develop content for key audiences.
  • Attend and support service events to create content for communication channels
  • Oversee and maintain service website including reviewing analytics to continually improve and review site performance.
  • Develop a forward-planning mechanism to identify and prepare proactive stories for both the media and the Trust's internal communications channels, writing clear, creative and effective copy.
  • Proof-read and copy-edit publications and reports
  • Support the management and development of the Trust's brand and corporate identity across internal and external communications channels; undertake/commission design work to deliver visual collateral to help communicate with and engage staff, patients and stakeholders.
  • Provide communications advice and support to service team.

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential

  • Educated to degree-level or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development


Desirable

  • Professional or postgraduate qualification in public relations/communications/marketing
  • Qualifications or training in web development or graphic design .


Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience working in a communications or public relations role
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and pressures for self and others in a challenging environment
  • Experience of developing and delivering comprehensive approaches to staff communication across a complex organisation
  • Experience of liaising with people at all levels


Desirable

  • Experience of working for a large complex public sector organisation (either in house or as contracted support)
  • Good understanding of key issues facing the NHS
