Protecting Patients from harm is one of our Trusts top priorities and we are looking for a registered Nurse to join our Falls specialist nursing team.
Main duties of the job
As a band 6 Falls Nurse you will work alongside the Band 7 and within a wider team in the Trust focussing on Harm Free care. Your role as a Band 6 Falls Nurse will support the Trust Policy for Falls Prevention and support staff and patients to reduce the risk of falls.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is based within the quality division as part of the Nursing and Patient Experience department and will be working closely with the Falls Lead Nurse and other specialists to deliver high quality patient focused care with a specific focus on in-patient fall prevention across the trust.
Works strategically to influence the development of the service in line with national and local targets.
The majority of time will be working with the Harm Free Care Matron, Falls Lead Nurse, Sisters, Matrons, Nurse Specialists and Practice Development staff using demonstrable leadership, influencing and communication skills and clinical expertise, knowledge to actively support staff in assessing and identifying individual patients falls risk factors, implementing appropriate care relating to falls prevention and in identifying and delivering appropriate post-fall care and management.
To provide professional leadership and demonstration of competence in the assessment of falls risk for patients and raise staff awareness of factors contributing to falls.
To take an active role in clinical governance, quality assurance, audit related to patient falls.
The post holder will support the Falls Lead nurse in the delivery of interdisciplinary education/ training in relation to the prevention of falls and will help support and evaluate the falls prevention strategies.

- Registered Nurse or AHP with current NMC/Professional registration
- Educated to a minimum of 1st degree level / able to demonstrate evidence that is working at degree level/ commenced degree pathway
Desirable
- Substantial Post Registration experience in falls prevention including experience at band 6 or above
Experience

- Able to demonstrate up to date, in-depth clinical and professional credibility/competence with working knowledge of in-patient falls.
- Demonstrate a high level of professional critical thinking and analysis in clinical practice - can relate to falls data, themes, patterns and trends
Desirable
- Must have an awareness of National and Local issues concerning patient falls in hospital
- Demonstrate post qualification or equivalent experience in teaching and assessing and coaching for all levels of staff in clinical practice
