As the Operational Lead manager for Luton and South Bedfordshire Crisis Resolution and Home treatment team you will be expected have managerial responsibility of the service as well as developing and maintain key relationships with other stake holders.

Main duties of the job

To ensure there are effective systems that supports the provision of high quality care and treatment to an identified group of patients.

Foster a learning care environment that teaches, develops, and supports staff to fulfil their role requirements.

To manage and organise work as required.

Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence based practice for service users with complex needs, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs, Trust objectives and professional guidance.

Lead on creating an environment that promotes critical reflection to improve care outcomes utilising evidence based practice and embedding QI.

Develop ways in which to receive service user and partner feedback and adapt service provision accordingly.

Ensure that high quality care provision with highly complex service users and groups is provided.

Ensure that the ward functions as an integral part of the Directorates services.

Effective communication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to the Trust.

To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.

To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.

Maintain quality care provision within the service budget including rota management.

Person Specification

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Mental Health) OR Registered Nurse (Learning Difficulty) OR Registered Nurse (Adult)
  • Masters qualification or equivalent experience


Desirable

  • Specialist Area Training
  • Evidence of Leadership / Management Training
  • Relevant teaching or assessing qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within or managing crisis care services
  • Experience of working as a clinical lead in a mental health environment at band 7 level or above
  • Experience of leading and working with a multidisciplinary teams
  • Minimising clinical risk and reducing restrictive practices
  • Experience of providing individualized and culturally sensitive care
  • Developing a reflective learning culture
  • Experience of managing budgets
  • Knowledge and experience of managing complex safeguarding practices


Desirable

  • Evidence of quality improvement


Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act (1983/ 2007/ 2014/5), Care Act (2014), Autism Act (2009) & ', relevant national standards, STPs, NHS Five year forward view aims (2015), NHS Long-Term Plan (2019), No Health without Mental Health (2011) and other relevant national policies.
  • Good working knowledge of good quality crisis care offer in line with accredited service i.e. HTAS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ensuring team/service high quality care including documentation
  • Proven track record of implementation of strategy, change management and practice development
  • Emotional Intelligence and Personal Resilience NMC Code of Conduct
  • Excellent clinical skills with complex service users and their care
  • Current Developments in nursing
  • Promotion of high quality supervision and reflective practice
