We are recruiting for a Clinical Medical Education Fellow who has completed a 2 year UK Foundation Programme and has current registration and licence to practice with the GMC. As well asshares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated trainee to join our education team as one of our medical education fellows for one year at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. You will work within the Medical Education Team, both postgraduate and undergraduate. There will be focus in two main areas: undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
We are therefore looking for trainees who can work at a F3/CT1+ level within Medical Education. Candidates must have completed their 2 years foundation training prior to applying.You will receive funding towards completion of an online postgraduate certificate in medical education for which dedicated time will be provided.
Main duties of the job

Undergraduates
- Develop educational and teaching objectives and proposals for the academic year alongside the medical education faculty, with clear goals along with any key requirements
- Participate as faculty in bedside teaching and workshops for undergraduate students.
- Work with the simulation faculty to further develop undergraduate simulation courses
- Production of high-quality educational material for upload onto the Medway education intranet site to support both undergraduates and postgraduates working at the Trust
- Liaise with the undergraduate and postgraduate representatives at a university and Trust level in order to act upon feedback and continuously improve standards
- Lead the Green book app team as trainee lead, with supervision from the Consultant editor. Ensure algorithms are up to date and new guidelines are uploaded
- Assist with the development of student teaching skills (i.e. as part of a skills teaching team)
Contribution to Undergraduate Faculty
- Contribute towards Undergraduate Faculty meetings e.g. SSLCs, LFG
- Work closely with the undergraduate administrators to support induction and timetabling
- Work in a mentoring/supportive capacity to help year 3 students adapt to the new hospital environment
Postgraduates
- Provide leadership and support to Postgraduate Doctor in Training representatives, to empower them to be advocates for colleagues within their departments.
- Liaise with trainee representatives to act upon feedback and drive forward quality improvement.
- Provide input to Educational Supervisor development workshops
- Participate in the Senior Medical Education weekly meeting
- Liaise with Trainee representatives and College Tutors / Training Program Directors on projects
- Alongside the induction group, participate in reviewing feedback and developing corporate induction for trainees.
- Production of high-quality educational material for upload onto the Medway education intranet site to support postgraduates working at the Trust
- Attend and contribute to relevant Specialty Faculty meetings
- Coordinate with Education Fellows in Undergraduate Medicine and Simulation to optimise output of Education Centre
