An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Workforce and Organisational Development team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. The Allied Health Professional (AHP) and Nursing Workforce Development Lead will play a key role in helping to deliver CCC's commitment to attract, retain and develop the brightest and best people locally, nationally and internationally, through our reputation for excellence in patient care, research and education, and our commitment to the health, wellbeing and experience of staff.

The AHP and Nursing Workforce Development Lead will contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the AHP and Nursing workforce in line with the Trust strategic objectives.

As a registered Health Professional, the post holder will contribute to developing the workforce reflecting new ways of working across the ICS. Maintaining a workforce with the knowledge and skills to deliver high quality patient care in line with the CCC People Promise and Allied Health Professions (AHP) Strategy for England: AHPs Deliver.

Main duties of the job

The AHP and Nursing Workforce Development Lead will work alongside Trust leadership teams and staff to support the organisation in developing, recruiting and retaining the best AHP and Nursing staff.

They will be required to consistently operate with a high level of political awareness, personal influence and skill. Working effectively with partners across The Trust, regionally and nationally including Health Education England, NHS England to deliver identified work streams and objectives.

We are looking for an individual with strong and proven leadership skills, to role model and facilitate innovation and change within our AHP and Nursing workforce.

The role will report to the Head of Workforce and Development with professional accountability to Lead AHP/Chief Nurse dependent on post holder's profession. The post holder will represent the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in various regional and national networks and forums and will act in a highly autonomous capacityof teams.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

Our flagship specialist cancer hospital in Liverpool opened in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care, and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.

Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Have an in-depth understanding of the strategic direction of the organisation to ensure the development of the AHP and Nursing workforce to have the right skills to deliver the best possible care to patients, in response to a changing health service
  • Manage the interdependencies between the CCC AHP and Nursing workforce supply strategy including the transformational elements
  • Develop sustainable innovative approaches to recruitment and retention to provide quality care and reduce AHP/Nursing turnover
  • Work with Service Leads and General Managers to embed structures to improve effective long term recruitment and retention of AHPs/Nurses
  • Actively engage and contribute to the ICS and AHP faculty workforce activities to support the organisations AHP workforce priorities
  • Work closely with Service Managers, Clinical Education, Learning and Development, and HR to ensure that the clinical education, staff development and workforce strategies for AHPs, Nurses and Clinical Support Workers (CSW) meet the organisations people, clinical and quality priorities
  • Influence and promote the visibility of AHP/Nursing workforce and Clinical Support Workers across the Trust
  • Collect, analyse and report AHP/Nursing workforce data to relevant CCC workforce groups and committees


Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • oBsc (Registered AHP/Nurse)
  • Masters level qualifications/modules in relevant areas
  • Leadership/Project Management Qualifications


Desirable

  • Project Management Qualification PRINCE2 or equivalent


Knowledge

Essential

  • A skilled and experienced AHP with a sound understanding of the NHS and the AHP/Nursing workforce
  • Good Operational/Project management skills, will be experienced working to deadlines
  • Knowledge of current national and regional AHP/Nursing workforce planning agenda and priorities


Desirable

  • Understanding of quality improvement methodology and outcome measurement


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience in a senior clinical leadership position
  • evidence of professional leadership
  • Proven track record in delivering on a variety of projects
  • Experience of effective multidisciplinary working, decision making and conflict resolution
  • Experience of working in partnership with external organisations


Desirable

  • evidence of involvement in change management or service improvement
  • Experienced in budget management
  • experience in workforce planning
