Job summary

We currently have opportunities to join the Bank within Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust as a Dietitian.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain a range of Dietetic experience in a supportive environment. We are one department across two sites and house a mix of specialist dietitians.

All roles on the bank are for as and when workers and therefore in particular may suit those already working part-time, with other commitments, or who want to work on a short-term basis. You may also be newly qualified and seeking some experience to start your career off, or wish to consolidate your existing experience before moving on to a more specialised role.

Main duties of the job

To work autonomously to provide expert HEF and oral nutrition support advice and therapeutic support to patients, carers and other healthcare professionals during domiciliary/clinic and/or care home visits.

To provide practical and safe tube feeding plans to patients and/or carers for use in the community. To advise on and order specialist nutrition and ancillary products to support safe and effective home enteral feeding.

To assist in the management of the dietetic caseload ensuring high quality dietetic care is provided. This will include the review of patients at appropriate intervals according to prioritisation criteria and clinical judgement.

To communicate complex and sensitive information effectively with patients from a wide range of backgrounds, carers and families, tailored to their needs.

The role currently has 18.75 hours per week available

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Weight management experience
  • Gastro experience (IBS/FODMAPS/IBD/Coeliac disase)
  • EMIS experience


Additional Requirements

Essential

  • Ownership/Use of a car
  • Sound knowledge of clinical practice
  • Knowledge of relevant guidelines e.g. NICE, ESPEN.
  • Must be able to demonstrate, in relation to patients, visitors, colleagues and other individuals connected with the Trust and NHS:
  • You have knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role
  • You are able to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role,
  • Patient facing roles -be able to understand an individuals communication, physical & emotional needs; recognise their needs and preferences
  • Able to provide a customer focussed service


Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree in Dietetics
  • HCPC registration


Desirable

  • Member of the BDA
