The GWH's Staff Health and Wellbeing Service is looking for an experienced counsellor to join their team and enhance the support provided to staff in the Trust.

The multidisciplinary team is made up of therapists with skills in a range of psychological approaches, each trained to deliver proactive evidence-based interventions to support staff in their health and emotional wellbeing.

Main duties of the job

The role will hold a clinical caseload providing assessments and psychological interventions, including short-term counselling. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Health and Wellbeing team to promote and deliver psycho-educational training to staff, where appropriate. This post will be varied and interesting requiring drive and enthusiasm, empathy and caring, as well as the ability to work as part of a team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • To provide a variety of psychological interventions to service users who present with a range of common mental health difficulties
  • To manage a caseload working in a time-limited model, adhering to the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework or equivalent.
  • To assess and work with staff on a 1:1 basis (or in a group setting, as appropriate) to deliver brief, short-term counselling.
  • To empower employees to take responsibility for their health, wellbeing and lifestyle.
  • Working alongside Health and Wellbeing colleagues to promote and deliver psycho-educational training to staff, where appropriate.
  • To support the ongoing development of the Staff Support Service in relation to the Five Year Forward View for Mental Health, in line with NHS Englands Health and Wellbeing agenda for NHS staff, by maintaining a proactive approach to the provision and promotion of mental wellbeing


  • Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Diploma/MA in Counselling/Psychotherapy
    • Registration/Accreditation with UKCP/BACP/BPC


    Desirable

    • Mindfulness Practitioner Certificate or equivalent
    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy training or qualification


    Experience

    Essential

    • Post-qualification experience as a counsellor/psychotherapist
    • Experience of working towards achieving individual and team objectives
    • oAppropriate experience of writing and presenting reports


    Desirable

    • NHS or large complex organisation experience in an acute or community setting


    Knowledge

    Essential

    • Coordination and decision making (able to organise, plan and prioritise own work)
    • Experience of working with various issues affecting the psychological wellbeing of individuals
    • Good foundation and experience in counselling, stress management, health and wellbeing
    • Sound knowledge of safeguarding issues and procedures
    • Good time management with ability to multi-task


    Desirable

    • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy qualification
    • Mindfulness Practitioner Certificate or equivalent
