BAND 6, SENIOR CLINICAL RESEARCH NURSE, FULL OR PART TIME CONSIDERED

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of our CRN East Midlands flexible workforce, the Direct Delivery Team.

We are seeking to appoint a Band 6 Senior Clinical Research Nurse (dependent on experience, knowledge and skills), to be part of a small team of research staff in our Derbyshire Hub. The successful applicant will have current clinical research experience, who is keen to gain more experience in supporting the conduct of research across differing specialties and settings, supporting commercial and non commercial research.

The post holder will be based at our office in Babington Hospital in Belper, however extensive travelling across the county will be expected, and some travel across the East Midlands will be required.

Traditionally, the majority of healthcare research has been conducted in secondary care settings, however, the research landscape is changing and this post will be vital in supporting the LCRN in adapting to this change. The post holder will join us at a very exciting time for the CRN East Midlands, through the Transformation of Research Delivery programme, it intends to develop its ability to respond to public health requirements and be best placed to respond to the changing research landscape.

Main duties of the job

Our flexible workforce, the Direct Delivery Team, has built a reputation of excellence, providing researchers with a service to achieve high quality outcomes. With ambitious plans to expand the team and provide development opportunities to provide the team with the skills required to support the delivery of research in public health, community and social care settings.

This post is a fixed term contract within the NHS you will be responsible for your own workload and support colleagues to carry out their caseloads of NIHR portfolio clinical research trials/ studies.

Training and Qualifications

Essential

  • Current NMC Registration


Desirable

  • Evidence of Specialist training/Leadership and management course
  • Professional knowledge of clinical research (6)


Experience

Essential

  • 2 Years post registration experience in research or specialty
  • Experience in following standard operating procedures
  • Experience in developing, implementing and following standard procedures (6)
  • Experience of undertaking or planning clinical trials (6)


Desirable

  • Experience of working on a portfolio of research studies within the NHS
  • Experience in supporting the conduct of commercial and non commercial research
  • Experience of the clinical care of patients enrolled in research
  • Previous experience at band 6 (6)

  • Knowledge of current national systems and structures for the approval, management and monitoring of clinical research in the NHS (6)


Desirable

  • Knowledge of the clinical trial lifecycle, set up & performance management
