Main duties of the job

The role consists of six monthly rotations in self-referral, orthopaedic inpatients, orthopaedic outpatients and medical. In addition, there are lots of opportunities to gain skills in a wide range of clinical areas. You will participate on our on-call rota and will be involved in many areas of service development which continually take place so we can provide the best care to our patients. Some of your responsibilities will include: Managing your own caseload of patients providing an efficient and high quality physiotherapy service within different specialist areas Rotating between clinical areas every 6 months including medical, ITU, surgical, amputees, orthopaedics, rehabilitation and musculoskeletal outpatients. Consolidating specialist physiotherapy skills in a variety of settings including examination and assessment of patients and delivery of treatment programmes Setting appropriate and progressive treatment aims, objectives and agree rehabilitation goals, in joint negotiation with patients Delegating patient treatment programmes to Physiotherapy Assistants and students and monitoring their progress We have an integrated health and social care service, meaning youll get to work across the beautiful Island alongside our supportive and friendly team. Our wider team consists of OT's, PT's and Children's Speech and Language Therapists who all work closely together across Outpatient Services, Acute Wards and in Children's Therapy.

Danielle McCann is a newly promoted Band 6 Physiotherapist who has worked for Manx Care since 2020. Born and raised on the Isle of Man, Danielle moved to Liverpool to study Physiotherapy with an ambition to return to where she grew up to get married and start a great career in physiotherapy. We spoke to Danielle to find out more about what she loves about living and working as a Physiotherapist on the Isle of Man.

What do you love about being a Physiotherapist? I love being around and getting to know different kinds of people. I enjoy seeing the impact that therapy can have on people’s pain and function and how this can influence their lives.

What is the team like that you work in? I’ve worked in a few different departments and everyone I’ve worked with has been great. My team are all caring and kind, dedicated to their jobs as well as being good fun and a pleasure to work with.

A relocation package of up to �7,000 based on receipts is available for this role. Housing Assistance is also available where the Department will pay the difference between your current mortgage/rent bill, and that of your new accommodation on the Isle of Man, up to a maximum of �250 per month. This role also qualifies for a recruitment incentive of �3,000, payable in the 1st, 13th, and 25th months of employment.
