Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic individual to lead a major capital programme within Nottinghamshire Healthcare initially supporting our eradication of dormitories programme with a budget circa of �50 million. In this pivotal role, you will lead a Project Team ensuring delivery of modern, fit for purpose facilities. You will be expected to embrace the changes in the delivery of health care and to identify and implement innovative, transformative solutions that support the Boards objectives. This is a real opportunity to be actively involved in shaping the future of the Board's estate to meet the emerging future ways of working and delivering quality care.

Job responsibilities

You will apply sound judgement and provide advice at the most senior level on the risks and opportunities the Board faces and the ways these can be addressed. To be successful in this role you will need experience of leading either a large healthcare project, with knowledge and understanding of the statutory and compliance requirements applied to the healthcare environment, or other large development project out with the healthcare sector in addition to a proven track record in the delivery of complex programmes of development and construction. You must have successfully led large multi-disciplinary teams and have significant experience in managing complex stakeholder relationships either within NHS organisations, local government and community groups or the private sector.

  • Master's degree relevant to role
  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience in a construction, engineering or other built environment programme
  • Additional in-depth professional training and specialist knowledge of capital delivery, programme delivery and people skills management acquired through training and experience over an extended period
  • Evidence of continued professional and managerial development
  • Relevant professional registration matching qualification and experience


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working at Board level in a complex healthcare system
  • Extensive, successful track record of leadership and achievement at a senior level in a relevant capital delivery field in a large, complex environment, in health care. This would ideally include delivery of new hospital builds
  • Extensive experience of formulating strategic capital delivery plans and development of projects resulting in positive value for money and beneficial clinical and workforce outcomes
  • Significant in-depth experience of organisation-wide policy development, interpreting relevant legislative and other requirements
  • Extensive experience of delivering successful large scale, complex and challenging technical design solutions in comparable environments
  • Able to demonstrate previous success in providing innovative and creative project delivery property solutions
  • Understanding of the planning, scheduling and management of operational systems within a complex environment

  • Specialist knowledge and awareness of change management tools and techniques. Excellent understanding and specialist knowledge of capital development
  • Highly developed communication skills, with ability to communicate highly complex information where exceptional influencing skills are required and where barriers to understanding and acceptance exist
  • Highly developed leadership skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams, and have them understand the Trust-wide and local performance expectations
  • Extensive track record of effective partnership working with internal and external stakeholders. Highly developed negotiating skills within complex, challenging and at times antagonistic environments
  • Ability to analyse, synthesise and interpret highly complex data, filtering and interpreting information to identify and focus on issues to be addressed at Board level
  • Intellectual flexibility with the ability to cut through ambiguity and complexity and to shape and implement a vision that looks beyond existing structures, ways of working, boundaries and organisations to produce more effective and innovative service delivery models
