A rare opportunity has arisen for an 18-month fixed term contract for a highly specialist physiotherapist to join the respiratory medicine therapies team.We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Highly Specialist Physiotherapist in Respiratory Medicine to join the Critical Medical Surgical (CMS) team within Therapy Services at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The team currently consists of: physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dieticians. The post holder works across the Thoracic Medicine Department and therapy services and hence works closely with and is supported by other MDT members including respiratory consultant physicians, respiratory consultant physiotherapist, sleep and ventilation practitioners, respiratory clinical nurse specialists and clinical physiologists.
Main duties of the job
This post involves an interesting and varied caseload including inpatient respiratory care, acute and home NIV, sleep/CPAP, airway clearance and nebuliser services. We are a large team with a track record for excellent service development, and patient focused research. We have an established teaching programme and have presented and attended national and international conferences. The successful candidate will have: respiratory inpatient experience, highly developed skills in the management of COPD and be highly confident and competent in the use of Non Invasive Ventilation and cough augmentation. This unique role also has a significant teaching and training responsibility within therapies and to the wider MDT.
