Job summary

We have an exciting secondment opportunity to come and work with us for 12 months, leading our ASD assessment service.

You will undertake ASD assessments, be part of the decision making meetings and provide support and second opinions to other members of staff.

Main duties of the job

You will:

- assess children and young people for social communication difficulties

- take part in the decision making meetings

- liaise closely with CAMHS, Paediatricians, education and other health colleagues

- take part in ADOS assessments

- provide second opinions to other Speech and Language Therapists in the team

- provide feedback to the paediatric SLT meeting on the ASD pathway and any developments

    Job responsibilities

    You will:

    Develop a strategy for, and deliver Universal, Targeted, and specialised speech and language therapy services, in collaboration with your AHP colleagues from Dietetics, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy.

    Have a passion for working with infants and families

    Have extensive experience in a paediatric setting

    Have experience of delivering education at different levels (for example families, students, the wider multi-disciplinary team)

    Demonstrate an interest in service development, audit, and research

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • A degree in Speech and Language Therapy from a recognised training establishment.
    • Registration with RCSLT
    • Registration with HCPC


    Experience

    Essential

    • A range of post-graduate and post-competency experience working with children in a variety of settings, with a range of speech, language and interaction problems
    • Experience working with children with complex developmental disorders
    • Completion of relevant short courses / certification eg. Parent Child Interaction, Makaton, PECs, Elklan etc
    • Experience of managing and prioritising a case-load.
    • Experience of working with assistants, students, newly qualified therapists and others as appropriate
    • Experience of participating in the delivery and development of training to a variety of recipients, both professional and non-professional.
    • Experience of participating in clinical service development in response to local and national priorities involving research, audit and user feedback.
