Are you a mental health or learning disability student nurse on placement with Surrey and Borders or interested in coming to work for us?

We would love for you to join us at one of our special events specifically for student nurses. We have a variety of exciting opportunities for newly qualified nurses in inpatient and community mental health settings across all ages and in learning disability 24/7 and community settings.

What to expect on the day:You will hear from our Chief Nursing Officer, Associate Directors or Clinical Leads from each division who will give an overview of their division and what they do. You will also have the opportunity to ask any questions about the Trust and what we have on offer.

Leatherhead Institute is just a two-minute walk from the Swan Centre Car Park which has plentiful parking, and the Institute is easily accessible by public transport. A 10-15 min walk from Leatherhead Train station

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a core member of the multi-disciplinary team, participating in the provision of on-going assessments, care planning, treatment and support of people with serious and enduring mental health problems and people in crisis. You will particularly ensure access to and availability of mental health nursing skills to users of mental health services and their families.

We have various development opportunities for nurses starting with a 12 months preceptorship programme to help you settle into being a newly qualified nurse and further develop your skills.

We are one of only twelve early implementer sites across the UK that is introducing new models of innovative community mental health care that will significantly improve access to timely, evidence-based, and best practice mental health interventions for people closer to home.

We will begin work on our second new hospital this year, in Chertsey, as part of our New Hospitals Programme delivering care in state-of-the-art purpose-built facilities. Our Farnham Road Hospital was the first hospital to be redeveloped and we will be building a third hospital in East Surrey.
