An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Thoracic Pre-Operative Unit for a Deputy Sister/Deputy Charge Nurse Thoracic Pre-Operative Assessment unit. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated 1stlevel Registered Nurse to assist in leading our Nursing team in Thoracic surgery to provide specialist care and information to our patients within the Thoracic Pre-Operative Assessment Unit.

You must display excellent leadership and communication skills and be confident to deal with members of the public and the hospitals multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

INTERNAL VACANCY ONLY therefore only current employees of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS trust will be considered for this post.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and motivated 1stlevel Registered Nurse to assist in leading our Nursing team in the pre-operative assessment of Patients who are to have Thoracic surgery. You will need to provide specialist care, support and information to our patients within the Thoracic Pre-Operative Assessment Unit.

You must display excellent leadership and communication skills and be confident to deal with members of the public and the hospitals multidisciplinary team.

You should have relevant Thoracic Surgery experience (some of which must have been worked on a Thoracic Ward as an RN) you must also show evidence of continuing professional development.

As the Deputy Sister/Deputy Charge Nurse Thoracic Pre-Operative Assessment unit you will be part of a team who will help deliver a comprehensive pre-operative assessment package to our patient's prior to their surgery.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Act as the lead nurse and report to the ward sister/charge nurse. Taking charge of the Thoracic Pre-Operative assessment Unit ensuring that the standards and quality of care given to patients is of the highest levels including that of the environment in which care is to be delivered.

Be an effective leader and role model and will be expected to provide regular direct clinical care and use experience to support the implementation of both clinical and non-clinical governance.

Work flexibly as a member of the Thoracic team and in support of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to ensure standards are being maintained, evaluated, and where necessary improved.
