We are looking for you to join our Stockport or Oldham CAMHS team as a CAMHS MHST Team Leader/CBT Therapist/CBT Supervisor / Family therapist or you could join us as ourEmotionally based school avoidance practitioner. As our EBSA practitioner you will support children in schools across our footprint.

We are looking for enthusiastic dynamic motivated individuals who are passionate about making a difference to young peoples lives.Successful candidates will be employed on a full-time basis based within Pennine Care, and will play a key role as members of the Mental HealthSupport Team, who will have the responsibility for delivering schools' overarching approach to providing mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people.

This service will help to reduce disadvantage by intervening early. As part of a new team you will be empowered to shape and build the service. You will help build and sustain working relationships, both with your colleagues and the wider network.Above all we have a desire to develop a service where we can nurture and support staff to have a long term career in child mental health.

Main duties of the job

Undertake appropriate mental health assessment of children and young people referred to service and provide a range of appropriate, evidence based clinical interventions informed by assessed individual need. The post holder will provide support, advice and consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the child/young person. This post will supervise the Emotional Health Team in Schools as appropriate and provide evidence based supervision. This post holder will work in partnership with the Operational Manager and other OperationalLeads, and will further develop the partnership working that is currently taking place between education, the local authority and the CCG.You will also support staff in schools and colleges to help the whole system develop an understanding of how to work together to improve health and mental wellbeing.

Person Specification



  • Qualified, BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
  • Willingness to complete supervision course


  • Qualified systemic family therapist
  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist
  • Supervision qualification
  • Core profession (Social Care, Mental Health Nursing or Learning Disability Nursing) (or recognised degree level broad based health & social care qualification) plus further short courses and experience to post graduate diploma level OR



  • Experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with mental health problems and their families
  • Must be experienced in and able to demonstrate ability to provide case management supervision for lower banded CAMHS Workers, students and other service group/team professionals as required
  • Must be experienced in analysing presenting problems and able to demonstrate ability to work autonomously utilising a range of therapeutic perspectives and modalities, depending on the needs of the client.
  • Must be experienced in providing risk assessment of self-harming behaviour



  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health
  • Must demonstrate understanding of child development and psychosocial influences
  • Must demonstrate a working understanding of systemic, psychodynamic and cognitive theories along with recognition of when each approach is appropriate.

Skills and Abilities


  • Skills in the use of complex methods of mental health assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional group
