Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sister / Senior Charge Nurse to come and join our team! We have a mixture of secondments and permanent positions available within the Medicine care group at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). The wards within Medicine cover a wide variety of specialities, these positions however are for one of our Gastroenterology and Hepatology wards and one of our General Medicine wards.

Our teams are enthusiastic, innovative, well-motivated and dedicated to high standards of care. Job responsibilities

Your Responsibilities What youll do

You will be an acting role model for nursing staff, encouraging effective working relationships and the development of a cohesive nursing team. You will be responsible got assisting the Senior Sister in the management of the ward for a 24-hour period ensuring high standards of care are maintained.

The Sister / Charge Nurse role requires a close working relationship with the multi-professional team to ensure that evidenced based quality care is delivered with compassion to every patient.   • 1 st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC Register
  • Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor
  • Degree
  • Relevant clinical courses

  • Management Course

  • Extensive experience to include considerable experience at Band 6 / equivalent in a relevant area
  • Evidence of clinical leadership ability
  • Proven management experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
