Job description

Job responsibilities

This is a stimulating post providing opportunity to develop many new skills practising clinically as a specialist mental health pharmacist to directly influence care provided to our service users through multidisciplinary involvement. Additional training and experience is provided through a planned programme of rotation through areas of Medicines Information, Clinical Trials, Audit (including Clinical Interventions and Prescribing Data feedback) and extended support to Community Mental Health Teams. There will be occasional attendance and shadowing opportunities in local governance meetings which includes Medicines Optimisation Committee.

MPFT provides an in-patient service to both The Redwoods Centre and St Georges Hospital and specialities include acute mental health wards, psychiatric intensive care, low and a medium secure forensic units, learning disabilities, eating disorders, perinatal services and child and adolescent mental health. Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation also support local Community Mental Health Teams including Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment, Mental Health Liaison, Hospital Avoidance as well as sexual health services and country-wide substance misuse and alcohol services.

In addition, Service Transformation programmes foster cross-sector working with local ICBs and PCNs with strong links to neighbouring Trusts through Trust Formulary and Shared Care Pharmacist.

Working hours are 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. The post holder may be required to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Currently there is a requirement to work bank holidays per annum on a pro rata basis there is no requirement to work late nights or weekends
