A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Consultant Psychologist to join Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) In York. The post holder will be an integral member of the leadership team and have the necessary skills and experience to undertake direct clinical work with children and families, consult on highly complex cases, offer multi-disciplinary supervision, lead on service evaluation, as well as manage the demands of service development and change. The post requires a high degree of critical judgement to provide highly effective clinical leadership within an established multidisciplinary community mental health service and in collaboration with partnership agencies.The post holder will take a lead role on service development and evaluation and support the development of the psychology staff within the service, such as the ongoing development of a CAMHS team including Neuro developmental diagnostic servicesCandidates should be significantly experienced clinicians with excellent interdisciplinary working skills and interested in developing and delivering an innovative service. A proven track record of consultancy, clinical leadership contributing to the collective leadership of the multi-disciplinary team and supervisory experience in the field of community child and adolescent mental health is essential.

Main duties of the job

Provides highly specialist psychological assessment of clients with severe and enduring conditions based on the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources.Responsible for recognising the potential for or signs of client harm, abuse or neglect, including poor clinical practice, reporting all such concerns and taking all reasonable steps to protect the client.Undertakes risk assessment and risk management for individual clients and provides highly specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and risk management and the high physical risks inherent in the client group.Formulates plans for highly specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients' mental health conditions based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice.Implements a wide range of highly specialist psychological therapies for individual clients, carers, families and groups, adjusting and refining psychological formulations as required.

Provides expert psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to client's diagnosis, formulation and intervention plan.Facilitates decision-making by planning and mapping processes/interventions with members of the team or the wider Psychology Service to determine the most appropriate treatment modality.

The post holder will be expected to take a strong lead role in delivery, coordination and supervision/support of psychological therapies across the CAMHS services, to ensure the offer is consistent and equitable. This encompasses family, individual and group therapies (including parental and multi family therapy groups). The post holder should have at least Intermediate level Systemic Family Therapy training or be willing to work towards this when beginning their post.

The post holder will provide a range of consultant level roles and responsibilities as detailed within the job description. This will include the delivery of highly specialist psychological assessment, formulation and interventions to children and their families within the CAMHS service through direct clinical work with children and families, offering clinical supervision and consultation, staff training alongside leading on service development and evaluation.

The post will require work in the York Base of Orca house and the community surrounding, this may include travel to other bases in the North Yorkshire , York and Selby Care Group

Candidates will be expected to have the necessary skills and experience to undertake direct clinical work with children and families presenting with complex mental health difficulties, act as a care coordinator, offer clinical supervision, caseload management supervision and consultation.

Qualifications

Essential

• Post-graduate training (doctoral level equivalent) in clinical / counselling / forensic psychology (or its equivalent prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
• HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
• Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice
• Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees
• Trained in care co-ordination
• Evidence of continuing professional development
