An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 physiotherapist with a passion in respiratory physiotherapy to join our Therapy team at Ipswich Hospital. The current rotational areas are yearly and rotate across Medical, Surgery, Acute Respiratory unit and Critical care, Respiratory Outpatients and Pulmonary rehab. As with all rotations, these areas are always subject to change.

We are an integrated team with the Occupational therapy team. We run a oncall rota, and weekend service, which are an essential component of the role.

We are invested into providing training and education to staff. We are keen for service development and audit opportunities.

Main duties of the job

Providing a high standard therapy service within the Acute Respiratory Care Unit, acute medical wards, surgical wards and Critical Care Unit. Current rotations also to pulmonary rehabilitation and respiratory outpatients. These rotations are subject to change.

To provide an evidence-based physiotherapy service that adheres to HCPC, CSP, CQC and Trust clinical and quality standards.

To ensure the safety of the patients in your care.

To supervise and assist in the development of Band 5 Physiotherapists, non-qualified staff, and students on placement.

To undertake audit of both clinical practice and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

To undertake on-call duties as part of a rolling on-call rota.

To demonstrate commitment to Continuous Professional Development.

To work according to Trust and Departmental objectives.

To work promote service development.

To work within a seven day rostered system with extended day if required.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Proven post registration experience.
  • Range of rotational acute care experiences to include respiratory and rehabilitation.
  • Experience of treating patient with a range of conditions, including neuromuscular weakness, respiratory, cardiology, oncology, nephrology and endocrinology and general surgery.
  • Provision of in-service training and reflective learning in these specialities.
  • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Experience of working with and supervising assistants, technicians and students.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with patients/carers/colleagues.
  • Directing patient care as part of MDT.
  • Experience of working as part of respiratory on call service.


Desirable

  • Experience of evidencing and auditing practice.
  • Experience of treating respiratory outpatients including: Breathing pattern disorders, Hyperventilation Syndrome, chronic cough, developing individualised airway clearance treatment plans.


Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc /MSc Physiotherapy
  • MCSP
  • HCPC Registered Physiotherapist
  • Clinical Educators Course


Desirable

  • Membership of ACPRC
  • Validated post registration courses
  • Non-clinical courses
  • LEO / leadership
