Our Community Eating Disorder (ED) Services are undergoing transformation, and we're pleased to be recruiting Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, as part of our wider MDT to join us in realising our vision for a single service for adults with eating disorders across Coventry and Warwickshire.

This post will support our community and inpatient service so that we can be there for people who need us the most and ensure equal access for everyone.

We welcome applications from experienced Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, but we're also keen to develop the skills of those who are new to the field, through training, supervision, and the opportunity to work alongside our experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT). The expansion of the service will enable you to contribute to and shape new ways of working.

The role is offered full-time.

Our team have an international reputation for the treatment of people with an eating disorder, and there will be opportunities to work with colleagues in other local ED services to develop your knowledge in working with clients transitioning between services.

Main duties of the job

This post primarily involves psychological assessment, including assessment and monitoring of risk, formulating, planning, and implementing both individual and group psychological interventions and case management of their own clinical caseload.

You'll provide consultancy, supervision, teaching and training to the Eating Disorder MDT and to other staff in mental health services. They will also be supported to actively contribute to service audit/evaluation and research including guidance and supervision on relevant projects. You will work across inpatient and community services.

We believe that professional development is key to training our team. This includes Health Education England training in ED models and regular clinical supervision to support your practice and develop your skills. You will have the opportunity to develop, supervise and contribute to research and publication. You will also have the support of our Assistant and Voluntary Assistant Psychologists to support you in this work.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Qualified Clinical Counselling Psychologist (Doctoral level qualification in Clinical or Counselling Psychology- eligible for Chartered Psychologist status).

Registered with the HCPC.

Training in assessment and treatment of eating disorders patients.

Training in Compassion Focused Therapy to Diploma level or equivalent.

Expertise and/or training in Clinical Supervision.

Evidence of ongoing commitment to training.

Ability to assess general mental health and psychopathology, including assessment of psychiatric risks e.g. self-harm.

Knowledge of eating disorder patients including models of symptom aetiology and maintenance.

Awareness of NICE guidelines and other relevant national policies/legislation for the assessment and treatment of eating disorders.

Ability to assess eating disorder symptoms and recognition of potential medical complications.

Ability to work in conjunction with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and deliver psychological care for eating disorder patients.

Ability to deliver Psychological therapies for eating disorder patients.

Knowledge of research and audit methodology suitable to the job.

Ability to contribute to audit of treatment programs.

Ability to critically evaluate developments in eating disorder treatment provision.

Well-developed/high standard of communication skills ability to communicate with patients, carers and other professionals

Excellent presentation skills with the ability to present to a variety of audiences.

Ability to reflect upon and critically evaluate own clinical practice.

Awareness of the impact of working with eating disordered patient on own and colleagues psychological well-being skills in managing this.

Experience in providing consultancy to colleagues.

Willingness to fully participate in clinical and managerial supervision.
