Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a fixed term physiotherapist (0.6 WTE) to work on service development and a pilot for patients receiving cardiac rehabilitation . The cohort of patients you will see will include those with heart failure, post cardiac surgery and patients who have had an MI/PCI.
Cardiac rehab is an NHS England priority, which has enabled us to secure funding for this post. This is an exciting time to be working in cardiac rehab with opportunities to be involved in several innovations, including filming/ development of cardiac rehabilitation guides and service development, to maximise patient participation and reduce health inequalities.
Clinically you will see patients for early cardiac rehabilitation, face to face and remote cardiac rehabilitation and developing maintenance plans for your patients. You will be supported by your Physiotherapist and Nursing Team Leads, and the Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist for Cardiology.

Main duties of the job
- Band 6 Physiotherapists are experienced clinicians - having completed core rotations as a Band 5 Physiotherapist. The post-holder will act as an autonomous practitioner, providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment, and managing their own patient caseload within a speciality team, with the support and mentoring of senior physiotherapists and nurses. They will supervise and train Band 4 and band 3 cardiac rehab technicians and Students as required.
- The post-holder will work across Bristol Royal Infirmary, Weston General Hospital and within community leisure centres including Hutton Moor (Weston) and Hengrove (South Bristol).
- The post holder will be required to work shifts including weekends and to participate in the bank holiday rota and respiratory on call rotas.

- Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Health Professions Council registered
- A variety of experience in core areas as a postgraduate physiotherapist e.g. Care of the Elderly, T&O, musculoskeletal, respiratory & neurological, dealing with a wide range of patients with differing needs
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable
- Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
- Involvement in Relevant Special Clinical Interest Groups
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy team and/ or multidisciplinary team
- Contributing to clinical education of less experienced staff, students or assistants
- Experience of discharge planning
