Job summary

The PPH Therapy team is composed of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetics and Speech and Language Therapy team members. Helping patients return into the community, you will enjoy working across multiple locations and ideally have access to your own car.

Main duties of the job

o To provide Occupational Therapy services for people in receipt of mental health and physical health services across Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BHFT).

o To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based / client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate Occupational Therapy interventions.

o Contribute specific Occupational Therapy knowledge and skills to the multi-professional team.

o Participate in supervision of junior staff and students as required.

o Ensure effective liaison with other services within the 6 localities in Berkshire including voluntary, statutory general community resources.

o To be an active member of the BHFT Occupational Therapy rotation scheme including the following areas: acute adult mental health admission wards, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), older people's in-patient wards. Rotating every 8 months after discussion with their clinical Occupational Therapy supervisor, Therapy Manager and professional lead for Occupational Therapy in the Trust.

Person Specification



  • Diploma/ Degree in Occupational therapy
  • Registered with the HCPC



  • Evidence of CPD
  • Post graduate training in any relevant clinical speciality

Previous Experience


  • Up to date evidence based on clinical knowledge


  • Experience of working as an OT in a relevant clinical area
  • In depth knowledge of care management
  • Experience in a rehabilitation setting
  • Knowledge of Intermediate Care service
  • Experience of working in rehabilitation/wards
  • Experience of working in a mental health setting
  • Experience of supervising and appraising junior members of staff/students

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Knowledge of Clinical Governance issues and audits
  • Organised

  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Computer skills

Additional Requirements


  • Car Driver/ Ability to travel to multiple sites
  • Ability to work on Weekends, Bank Holidays and Extended Hours, including shift working depending on the service needs. Possible Weekend duty frequency: 1 weekend day every 3rd weekend
