Job summary

Queen Victoria Hospital is a specialist NHS hospital providing life-changing reconstructive surgery, burns care and rehabilitation services for people who have been damaged or disfigured through accidents or disease.

The Head and Neck Unit is an 8 bedded acute surgical ward that specialises in head and neck cancer and maxillofacial surgery and we are currently seeking an enthusiastic band 5 nurse to join our specialist team, who wishes to pursue a career in Maxillo-facial nursing.

Main duties of the job

You will gain skills in airway management including caring for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients, enhanced recovery, wound management, post op management of surgical flaps, caring for NGTs, PEGs and RIGs. The successful candidate will be motivated and enthusiastic to learn.

We are committed to providing education opportunities to all our staff and we place a strong emphasis on the education and development of the ward team.

If you are successfully appointed to this role and complete a 6 month probation period you will be eligible for a two stage New Starter Premium of �1500 in total. You will receive �500 on receipt of your probation paperwork from your line manager and another �1000 on the one year anniversary of your start date.
