Radiation Physics provides expert advice on diagnostic radiology, non-ionising physics, nuclear medicine physics, radiation protection and radioactive waste management to the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust and a number of healthcare organisations across Kent, London and South East England.

As Head of Radiation Physics you will be responsible for the delivery and direction of this busy service. The role is varied with plenty of opportunity to develop your skill-set, undertake research and development and make a positive impact across the Trust and more widely.

You will act as an accredited MPE in diagnostic radiology or nuclear medicine physics in addition to being an accredited RPA, RWA or LPA (ideally we are looking for two of these certifications but will support you to obtain these within an agreed timescale).

Main duties of the job

The role requires you to deliver a high-level of scientific and leadership expertise that directly impacts on the safety of our staff, patients and visitors to the Trust.

You will be proactive in engaging with staff throughout the organisation to ensure that radiation safety is foremost and that we are delivering the required service levels.

You will have a passion and vision for Radiation Physics with a proven track record in delivery.

About us

You will join the Directorate of Medical Physics and Radiotherapy Services which is part of the Cancer and Outpatients Division.

The Directorate supports the regional Kent Oncology Centre, one of the largest cancer centres in England, in addition to providing clinical engineering, radiation engineering, computer science and radiation physics services to the wider Trust and other healthcare organisations. The breadth of services that we provide offers significant opportunities for multi-disciplinary working, research and development.

Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent. The Trust provides a full range of general hospital services and some areas of specialist complex care to around 500,000 people living in the south part of West Kent and the north part of East Sussex.

The Trust's core catchment areas are Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells and their surrounding boroughs. We work from two main clinical sites: Maidstone Hospital and Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury.
