Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Folkestone Children and Young People's Therapy Team. This post is a permanent, full-time post.

This would suit someone with at least 2 year's post graduate experience with transferrable skills who wants to move into paediatrics, or someone who has has some previous paediatric experience.

You will be supported by our integrated team to develop your skills, with a mixed caseload aged 0-19, some with complex presentations.

We offer:

  • Access to support from a Practice Educator within our Team
  • Opportunity to participate in research.
  • Access to department specialists and senior staff for advice and support and joint working.
  • monthly supervision and access to peer supervision at all levels.
  • Child Protection supervision 4 times per year.
  • NAPLIC Certification as DLD Friendly Service
  • Local and Trust-wide wellbeing support

Main duties of the job

We are a Children and Young People's Therapy Service, who recognise the benefits of integrated working with our Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Therapy c olleagues. We work out of three different localities, The Rainbow Centre in Ashford, The Beacon Centre in Folkestone and the Children's Assessment Unit at Buckland Hospital, Dover. Working with over 90 other therapists ranging from assistants, junior therapists to more senior specialists.

We encourage an evidenced based, outcome focused approach to meeting the needs of our service users. We provide assessment and intervention based on a child's individual need regardless of their age (0-19 years).

During the Pandemic we have worked flexibly to meet the needs of our children and young people whilst keeping staff safe. Our modernised IT offer has allowed us to develop flexible working between office and home.

We are seeking:
  • a proactive, creative and highly motivated therapist
  • a passionate and innovative individual
  • a team player to join our existing friendly team
  • Experience of working within a pre-school and/ or school setting.
  • An effective registration with the Health Professions Council and have a professional degree in physiotherapy
  • Someone with at least 2 years post-graduate experience with transferrable skills or with previous paediatric experience.
  • Ability to travel round the locality.

Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years post graduate experience


Desirable

  • Broad range of experience at band 5 level including paediatrics, orthopaedics, respiratory care and neuro-rehabilitation
  • oRelevant paediatric experience at undergraduate/ postgraduate level


Qualifications

Essential

  • oRecognised Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
  • oPost graduate training relevant to physiotherapy


Desirable

  • oPlacement practice educators qualification


Knowledge

Essential

  • oKnowledge of the principles of clinical governance and audit


Desirable

  • Understanding of the EHCP statutory process within Education for children with additional needs
